1. Pneumatic Valve : 공기 작동형 밸브를 말합니다. 발음은 "뉴메틱" 이라고 발음합니다. Plant engineering 에서 많이 사용되는 공압밸브의 하나입니다. 공압을 이용해서 Valve 를 열고(on)/닫고(off) 해서 Process (Liquid or Gas)를 Control 하는 역활을 합니다.

 2. FO or FC : Control Valve 의 약자 입니다. 
      
     FC : Air Fails closed - Air 가 Fails 되면 Valve 를 Closed
     FO : Air Fails Open - Air 가 Fails 되면 Valve 를 Open

     FO, FC 는 engineering 업무에서 자주 보게 되는 단어 입니다.

아주~ 간혹 Stay put 이라는 용어가 사용할 때가 있습니다. Stay-put 은 말 그대로 현상태를 유지하고 가만히 있으라는 의미 입니다.

 3. XV : Actuated On/off Valve 를 말합니다. Actuated 란 작동시키다라는 뜻 입니다. Standard 형식으로 XV 라고 표현을 합니다. Detail P&ID 작업시에는 해당공사의 시방서 및 Code 등을 따라 identification No. 를 부여합니다. 

 4. HS : Hydraulic Supply 를 말합니다. 

 그림상에서 HS와 Pneumatic valve 중간에 대쉬선 과 화살표로 표기한 것은 Instrument signal 을 의미합니다.

 HS 에서 Signal 을 XV 로 보내서 On/off control 을 하겠다는 의미입니다.

용어를 바탕으로 정리를 한다면 Control valve (XV- Pneumatic actuated valve) 를 사용해서 HS에서 Instrument signal 을 보내고 이를 받은 밸브(XV)가 Process liquid or Gas 를 On/off Control 하고 있는 상태를 말합니다
